Get geofence alerts in Slack, the moment they happen
Your team already lives in Slack. Now your geofencing data can too. Fencemaker pushes real-time entry, exit, dwell, and route-deviation alerts directly into a Slack channel — so dispatchers, ops leads, and account managers see what's happening in the field without opening a dashboard.
Why teams use this
- Zero-latency visibility — alerts land in Slack within seconds of a geofence event firing.
- No engineering required — paste a Slack Incoming Webhook URL, pick what triggers it, done.
- Free on every plan — Slack alerts are not gated behind a paid tier.
- Works alongside the API — keep using webhooks for automation while Slack handles human notification.
- Rich formatting — device, zone, and a direct map link on every alert, not just a plain-text ping.
What you can send to Slack
- Geofence entry and exit events
- Dwell-time threshold breaches
- Route or territory deviation alerts
- Device offline / signal-loss warnings
How it works
- In Slack, create an Incoming Webhook for the channel you want alerts in, and copy its URL.
- Go to Settings → Integrations → Slack in your Fencemaker dashboard.
- Paste the
https://hooks.slack.com/services/…URL and connect. - Send a test alert to confirm formatting lands the way you expect.
- Every future geofence event on your account posts to that channel automatically.

FAQ
Does this cost extra?
No. Slack alerting is included free on every Fencemaker plan, including the free tier.
Can I send alerts to multiple channels?
Not yet from a single connection — each Slack Incoming Webhook URL posts to one channel. To route different alerts to different channels, create a separate Incoming Webhook per channel in Slack.
Can I mute alerts temporarily?
Yes — disconnect the Slack channel from Settings → Integrations without losing your webhook URL, then reconnect it later.
Does this replace the webhook API?
No — it complements it. Use Custom Webhooks for automation and system-to-system workflows, and Slack for human-readable notifications.
